Everything You Need To Know About Protein Shake Supplements

If you're considering taking protein supplements, you probably have questions. Do you really need to take them? Which ones are for you? What's the big deal with protein anyway? You're confused, and you don't know where to turn to get honest, straightforward information that you can really use.

Here are some answers. You're welcome.

Why Protein Is Important

Protein is important because it's the building block of muscles, your nails, your hair, your organs and is important to strengthening your immune system. Unless you're getting enough of it, building muscle simply isn't going to happen. Whether you're a weight lifter or a housewife trying to lose some weight, getting healthy means slimming down and strengthening up, and protein can help you do that. It's something that we all get in our diets anyway but we can't get enough of it with the foods that we eat to equal the benefits of a protein shake. If we tried that we might be eating so much that we'd explode, and we still wouldn't get enough protein. To avoid the explosion and the lack of protein, you'll want to drink protein shakes. It's completely safe unless you're trying to overdose on it, which most people are smart enough not to do. Follow the instructions of the protein supplement that you're using for your tasty shake and you'll be fine.

Who Should Take A Supplement?

Really, anyone can take them and most people should take protein supplements. The four main groups that usually take protein supplements, though, are: (a) people trying to lose weight, (b) people trying to gain weight, (c) bodybuilders, and (d) people strengthening their immune system. Don't confuse bodybuilders with people trying to gain weight. There are other reasons that people need to gain. Maybe they've been very sick or malnourished and have to make up for it. Maybe they have a starring role in new movie but they have to play a fat guy. There can be hundreds of reasons. Bodybuilders are interested in specially building muscle. It might not seem to make much sense that people who need to lose weight would also take them, but anyone who has been on a diet knows that protein helps build muscle and helps give you energy without the need for fattening carbohydrates. These are two important things that a dieter needs.

The amino acids that are the building blocks of protein help to keep your blood sugar stable. If it's not stable, you get cravings for things to eat and you get hungry all the time. Another important point when it comes to dieting and protein is that protein shakes have very few calories, so you'll get great nutrition and a lot of protein without loading yourself up with calories during a big meal.

If you're interested in taking a supplement, there are a lot of different ones out there. There are health food stores and bodybuilding stores that you can check with, and there are also Websites that offer protein supplements of different types. Liquid vitamin products like AminoCharge and others offer quickly-digested protein supplements that work very well for a lot of people who want to bodybuild and gain muscle mass while they lose fat. Just make sure to get any questions that you have answered before you buy. Some proteins may contain milk so be certain that the protein supplement that you're looking at does not contain ingredients to which you are allergic. Some protein shakes can be very costly, and you don't want to waste your money. Get the right thing the first time.

What's The Difference Between Supplements?

There are five different types of protein that are the main options, and there are three ways to take it. You can get:

Protein Extreme is considered by some to be the best protein supplement, though also amongst the most costly. It is used by professional athletes and those looking to build their immune system and by people who are lactose intolerant. It is very close to egg protein as to its ability to be absorbed by the body. Protein Extreme Energy is a blend of Protein Extreme, hormone free egg whites and key nutrients to provide you with extra energy, not to mention that its deliciously flavored with organic cocoa. Protein Extreme Energy has become my personal favorite very quickly. Whey protein is the most popular and readily available, but it is also costly. Casein protein isn't as perfect for you, but it does do something that whey protein can't - it lasts longer and will still be feeding your muscles even after the whey protein has fizzled out. Egg protein is made of pure egg white and it's fast-digesting, not staying in your system as long as the other kinds. The last of the group is soy protein, and it's also fast digesting. The main benefit of it is it can be taken by vegetarians, vegans, and those who are lactose intolerant because it isn't made from any animal sources.

With three ways to take protein, there is something for everyone. Use your favorite protein supplement in one of our delicious protein shake recipes; add it to bars to make proteins bars or even cookies as healthy snacks throughout the day; or, add protein supplements to your cereal or with granola and yogurt to give you that little boost that you need.

There you go. Questions answered. Sure, it's probably not really everything you wanted to know, but it's a good crash course for starters. Now that you've got something to go on, go out there and talk to people and get the rest of your questions answered. That'll help you get the right protein shake supplement for you and ensure that you achieve your fitness goals.
